where does the money go thats raised from tobacco taxes?
As a smoker, which should actually class as a drug addict, as that is what we are considering nicotine is as addictive as heroin. I am curious as to where all the tax we smokers pay on our cigarettes actually goes. Its not on the help to stop clinics as we still have to pay prescription charges on no smoking aids, unlike heroin addicts who pay nothing into the system at all but get all their help free!!!! Can someone please enlighten me
All tax raised, by whatever means is paid into a single government pot, ie. The Exchequer.

For example, of all the £millions raised in petrol tax only a very small proportion is actually spent on transport/roads etc. This is likewise with the tax raised from tobacco. From the total raised from various taxes this is then allocated to things like the NHS, DEFENCE, UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT and other national needs.
